The first message
You are answering a question, not sending a pitch.
Answer the question first
Someone asked something specific. Answer that, in public, where they asked. A reply that helps before it sells is the one that gets a profile click.
Askhawk drafts one in their language and their register, and it is yours to cut. Send it as your own words or not at all: a reply that reads as a template is worse than no reply.
- Say the thing you would say for free
- Name one thing you have done that is like it
- Ask one question that only a professional would ask
Respect where you are
Some places forbid a pitch under a question. Askhawk shows the rule for the source on the lead itself, and the drafted reply follows it, so a good lead is not spent on a ban.
Move to a direct message only when they ask for one.
Be early, then be brief
The window matters more than the words. A good answer at twelve minutes beats a better one at two hours, because by then the thread has three replies and a shortlist.
