Reading a score

A number is only useful when you know what moved it.

Three things, not one

Every lead carries a score out of a hundred, and under it the three readings that made it: how well it fits what you sell, whether the person sounds like they will pay, and how much it smells of spam.

A high fit with a low will-pay is a student project. A high will-pay with a low fit is somebody else's job. Both are worth knowing before you open the thread.

  • Fit: is this the work you do
  • Will pay: a budget, a deadline, a company
  • Spam risk: a post written to farm replies

When to trust a low score

A short post scores low because there is little to read, not because it is worthless. “Need a website, DM me” is a 55 that can be a client.

Sort by Answer first rather than Strongest when you have ten minutes: a 70 that nobody has answered beats an 85 with six replies under it, every time.

Tell it when it is wrong

Wrong lead, on the lead itself, is the fastest way to improve the next hundred. It records why, not just that, and the reason feeds the searches and the blocked words.
